Capital Radio
Bewtween 11 - 12 we listened to this radio station, to find out how this differs from other radios. Unlike the other radios i have spoke about, Capital is a contemporary hit radio (CHR, Contemporary Hits, Hit List, Current Hits, Hit Music, Top 40, or Pop Radio) so this station just focuses of pop / chart music.

Just like other radio's, the presenter will introduce themselves; the presenter on the show we listened to was Pandora. The target audience is 15 - 34 so she also spoke in an informative, enthusiastic, jolly way just like Scott Mills. Before she played any songs she spoke about compeitions and prizes the audience can win, after she explains things she mentions the radio ID just to remind everyone what adio station they are listening to. 12 ID / jingles were played during her show.
After Pandora spoke about everthing she needed to, she told the audience what songs are coming up then introduced the first song. All together an average of 19 songs were played, 60% - 40% is the percentage of audio(music) to speech played. If any of the songs are new, she will give information about the song and artist.
Because this is a commercial radio, the do play adverts and about 18 adverts were played during the whole hour, this took up about 9 minutes of the show. The news was played every half hour (like public service radios) they spoke about the latest news, sport and weather.
I do sometimes listen to capital radio, but i prefer BBC Radio 1 because it is a public service radio and has no adverts. I think commercial radios play too many adverts.
Again, we listened to Smooth Radio 3 - 4. This radio station is easy listening, it plays calm music.
The presenter had a calm tone to his voice he was mature, but also chatty. He introduced himself at the start of the show and spoke abou what was coming up next just like other radio stations. At the end of his show he told the audience who was coming up next and what was going to happen in their show.
More ID / jingles and adverts were played than on Capital, 16 ID / jingles, 22 adverts. Adverts last about 30 seconds each, so 22 adverts would have took up 11 - 12 miuntes of the whole show. Also less music was played, only 12 where as capital played 19 songs. Unlike the other radio stations, the news was played twice in the hour and spoke more about travel and traffic than other stations to.
I don't really listen to Smooh Radio because i don't like th music they play, the target audience is 25 - 45, so i listen to radio stations that have the target audience 14 +.
